Yoyoyo team prolific!
It’s the second day of the final month of this beautiful 2016, what’s awesome going on?
Opportunities have been explosively flooding to the gate door of my throne and I’ve been fitting the best things into place that create the best kinds of outcomes for us.
Exciting. Exhilarating. Electrifying.
Totally aroused by these invigorating elements that can multiply the impact I want.
Anyways, congrats to Donnie Yen for leaving his hand and footprints in cement at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre last Wednesday!
He’s the 3rd Chinese martial artist to receive such honor (after Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan) and he’s definitely one of the modern badasses who qualify to become a member of Team Prolific.
Here’s what he said, “I hope this ceremony, this achievement, will inspire many Chinese actors — not just Chinese actors, but many young actors — that they, too, can achieve the same dream if they put enough hard work into it…. The force is with me and the force is with everybody.”
No matter how advanced the technology becomes, one of the core principles of success is always hard freaking work.
I first heard about Donnie back in the mid-2000s (yes, more than a decade ago) and I started following him after the wildly successful movie Ip Man in 2008.
Of course I watched Ip Man 3 last Summer where Donnie fought against Mike Tyson and it was such a blast.
In a few weeks, he will appear in the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story where he plays a blind warrior monk who is part of a heroic squad of rebels that steals plans for the Death Star. PLUS, it was confirmed that Donnie will replace Jet Li in the role of the lead villain in the upcoming action film XXX: Return of Xander Cage – a movie produced by Vin Diesel, Joe Roth and others.
FREAKING BADSS ON FIRE RIGHT NOW.
So what does this mean to you?
Donnie is already 53 and a multi-multi-millionaire, why is he still choosing to DOMINATE his path as a kung fu master X movie star?
One of the core motivations why successful people keep being unstoppable after exceeding their baseline of comfortable lifestyle is because they are PASSIONATE about what they do in life.
Money, status, fame and external goodies get you started, PASSION KEEPS YOU GOING.
What you’re passionate about becomes your strengths. It becomes your genius gift. It transforms into your legacy to the world.
No one keeps working so damn hard after they have achieved a comfortable lifestyle. If you truly want to dominate your life, your motivation must stem from within, not without.
Of course there are other habits that Donnie has accumulated to achieve such level of success, things like:
- Aiming to be the best in the world
- Being prolific and keep fvcking going no matter what (He entered the film industry 32 years ago back in 1984…)
- Mastery on his core strengths (martial arts x movies), rather than being mediocre on dozens of shit
- Realizing his vision by taking massive imperfect actions (not every movie he and his team produced were awesome)
- He took risks releasing his productions to the public even though things might not be perfect
There will probably be tons of interviews and little unknown stories coming out in the coming months and years, so we’ll learn more later.
In the meantime, what can you learn from this modern badass?
Someone who’s been working hard for DECADES while most people may not even know who he is?
Someone who keeps fvcking going regardless of the inequality or possibly discrimination in a foreign Western industry?
Someone who may be mocking at his arts and work by comparing them with Burce Lee’s legacy?
The hardship is probably beyond description.
I’ll leave you here today and let you ponder on how YOU can also DOMINATE your own path in such a legendary way.
May the force be with you.
