Anyways, today I want to expound on this idea of shaking things up.
As you know, I have a very purposeful, careful-crafted morning routine.
I wake up, rinse with oil before brushing teeth, piss, drink 500ml lemon water, read, meditate, do some energetic and deep breathing exercise, vocal warmup, shit and then I start writing my brand new issue of Productivity Advice Daily for my badass warriors.
Basically that has been the pre-determined routine that I have been following through at least for the past 6 months and it has been working pretty good for me.
But as you know, I always strive for the better.
I want more. I want to jumpstart my day even quicker. I want to double my productivity once again.
That’s why I told you that I’ve started leaving the comfort of my own kingdom and start working in cafes and public places in the afternoon.
And so far that feels AWESOME as well because when you see people hustling and bustling outside, you’re COMPELLED to work your ass off as well.
Plus, I have noticed that there are actually co-working spaces especially designed for entrepreneurs, designers and freelancers where you can pay a reasonable amount of membership fee and work in those creative spaces.
So I am scheduling part of my afternoon working schedule into those places because of a few advantages:
#1 The place I found offer high-speed Wi-Fi, standings desks and a spacious 7000+ square ft. environmentally-friendly minimalist style kind of place to work.
#2 It can be a great place to meet other like-minded badass entrepreneurs and freelancers where we might be able to help each other out.
#3 The fees of spending a day there is similar to 1-2 cups of coffee, so it’s no much more expensive than spending an afternoon in normal cafes where you might encounter some interruptions for occupying spaces for hours.
So yeah, this co-working space is likely my next move before Christmas comes.
You may know that I normally have my strength training at around 4pm, come home slightly before 6pm and then I will have dinner and start my night work at 7-ish or 8.
But I found this can be a time trap because…
#1 There’s quite a lot of dudes working out in those times, so occasionally I have to wait for machines and weights. So a 60 minutes section turns out to be a 75-90 mins one.
20 mins x 3 workouts per week = 60 mins wasted per week. That’s 50 plus hours wasted a year.
If my rate is $500/hour, that’s $25,000 LOSS of income!
No fucking way I am gonna waste money like that.
#2 Having a workout section is the middle of the day is kinda cool because it acts as a buffer for you to wind down a bit before you thrust for another work section.
BUT it can be an interruption of flow especially when you’re in the middle of peak productivity. You don’t want to stop just because it’s time to work out.
PLUS, there are a lot of logistic issues. You can’t really go to places during the day that’s far from the gym, you’re kinda stuck in similar proximity. (Like I can’t go to the co-working space or cafes after lunch, just because I need to come back for gym after 2 hours).
SO, I woke up early this morning and then I went straight to the gym after brushing up myself. It was 8am and there’s not much people packing in the public transport. The gym is kinda empty so I finish my workout in 50 minutes. I came back at 9ish, had my nutritious morning protein shake as breakfast, and started writing a brand new PAD to you right now.
VERY PRODUCTIVE so far and I love this new schedule.
It forces me to MOVE MY BODY and shake myself up before I start working. It allows me to see other people hurrying to work so I get that little environmental exposure before laziness creeps in.
That’s why I highly recommend you to SHAKE THINGS UP regularly.
Change your normal schedule.
Do something different than your routine.
Pattern interrupt your habits so your brain is so alert that allows new ideas, inspirations, lightbulb moments to hit your beautiful conscious mind.
It can be as semi-big as moving your entire activities towards different time slots. It can also be as little as just free flowing your Sunday without any plans and do whatever you feel like to in the moment.
Try it out, disrupt your normal patterns and have some fun.
This can be an insanely simple trick to 3X your productivity today.
It’s not even noon and I’m really surprised I got one of the most important daily tasks done now. Now, I gotta prepare for my afternoon section outside.
Peace and out.
